This is a panel of adult family members (parents, foster parents, grandparents, guardians, other concerned family members) who have a youth with a mental or behavioral health concern. The panel meets once a month to network and support each other. It is an opportunity to learn about local resources, network with others with the same concerns and gain support from each other. Bi-monthly the first 30 minutes is dedicated to an “Agency Highlight” where local mental health providers attend the meeting and present on the services they offer our community.
Who is the program for?
The panel is for any adult with a concern for a youth with a mental or behavioral health diagnosis or issue. The panel is for families living in Scott County, IA. There is no cost to attend. Childcare is not available.
How has this panel helped?
The SCK Family Panel has been able to help connect families/youth to local mental health services and to provide resource information. The SCK Family Panel hosts an annual conference for over 100 adult family members. This conference provides an opportunity for families to receive in-depth education on various youth mental health diagnosis from professionals. During the monthly meeting families network and support each other by sharing their concerns and solutions they have found.
